Aim of the programme is to help students understand the child's development, learning and thinking style, from the early infancy to the age of 8, to investigate the challenges and opportunities coming up in the field of educational services and examine childhood from different educational perspectives. Students are encouraged to turn to their own experiences in order to learn and comprehend early childhood.
The programme places particular emphasis on independent learning and application and involves a compulsory placement in various educational settings, with the support of the Mediterranean College wide network of associated private schools and organizations. Also, the theoretical modules are framed by applications in the College's education labs and by multiple other activities, such as field trips, exhibitions, charitable bazaars, seminars, participation in conferences etc. As a result, the programme graduates have both knowledge and practical skills to take on immediately and responsibly the role of early childhood educator in real work conditions.
The programme examines the significance of childhood and the multiple needs of children, and how these can be met by education professionals. Particular emphasis is placed on the personal and professional development of students, through the module content, student placement and the multiple complementary educational activities.
