ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for admission, candidates must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree;
  • Provide evidence of excellent command of the English language;
  • Need to be currently employed or self-employed (valid for the part time mode only);
  • GMAT tests are optional unless the Academic Committee requires the applicant to take them: in any case, scores of 515 or more (GRE >155) can strengthen your application and help you secure a scholarship.

DESCRIPTION

The MSc in Shipping Management is designed to equip graduates with the advanced skills and knowledge required to thrive in one of the most vital sectors of the global economy. This specialized program transforms recent graduates and early-career professionals into seasoned experts in the shipping industry. In collaboration with the Greek shipping community and our prestigious Shipping Business Advisory Committee, it provides a comprehensive understanding of the key issues in modern commercial shipping, blending academic rigor with practical know-how.
The program is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), with graduates eligible for three ICS exemptions, further enhancing professional prospects. Alba shipping students also benefit from membership access to BIMCO, the world’s largest direct-membership shipping organization, and receive discounts on numerous BIMCO products.
Alba's strong ties to the Greek shipping community provide invaluable networking opportunities and participation in educational field trips, company visits, and activities with industry leaders.
Moreover, the program’s international recognition adds significant value, being accredited by both AMBA (the Association of MBAs) and NECHE (New England Commission of Higher Education), ensuring global credibility and status.

INFORMATION

The program is structured to accommodate busy professionals, offering evening classes. It spans 12 months for full-time students and 24 months for those opting for part-time study. Throughout the program, students engage in 12 core modules and four specialized workshops, allowing them to develop a well-rounded understanding of the shipping industry.
To culminate their learning experience, students can choose between a dissertation, internship, or coursework. This flexibility ensures they can apply their knowledge in real-world settings. Eligible students also have the opportunity to participate in internships with leading companies in the shipping sector, enhancing their employability, with over 90% of graduates finding work within six months of graduation.
